Citizens Fire Academy
Potential candidates for the Citizens Fire Academy must meet the following criteria:
The primary goal of the CFA is to foster a better relationship between the community and the Hudson Fire Department through training and utilizing the philosophy of a "two-way lectern". It is envisioned that organization members will:
The CFA is designed for adults to learn about how the fire department is organized and operates. The CFA will meet one night a week and one 8 hour Saturday. Actual instruction will last for seven weeks with a graduation being held on week seven. Additional practical exercises may be available depending on group interest and availability.
Each night, CFA participants will learn about different aspects of the fire department ranging from emergency medical services to special rescue operations.
This is not a certification course.
Classes will begin August 7, 2019 at the fire department training room.
Topics covered will include:
Week 1: Administration of the Fire Deparment, Incident Command
Week 2: Fire Engines, Tools, First Responder Familiarization
Week 3: Search and Rescue, Ladies Auxiliary, Rehab
Week 4: Protective Equipment, SCBA, Search Tactics Exercise
Week 5: Fire Extinquishers Live Fire
Week 6: Hose Ops, Ladders, Vehicle Extrication, Search & Rescue ( Saturday 8 hours )
Week 7: Graduation
